Privacy policy

What we collect, what we do not, and who else touches your data when you visit this site or buy something on it.
Who is responsible
KONTRAST AUDIO, trading as [registered name], [registered address], [VAT / tax number]. We are the data controller for everything described here. Write to support@kontrastaudio.com with any question about your data, including the requests listed below.
Measurement and advertising
We run advertising campaigns, so we need to know which ads and links actually bring people here. Google Tag Manager loads Google's measurement tags on this site to answer that, and those tags can store an identifier on your device and send it to Google.
None of it starts on its own. Every advertising and analytics signal is set to denied before Google's code loads, so until you accept the bar at the foot of the page, nothing is written to your device and Google receives no identifier from you. Decline and it stays that way. Your answer is kept in your own browser, and Cookie settings at the bottom of any page changes it whenever you like.
We keep no analytics of our own and we do not build profiles of visitors. What Google does with what it collects is described at policies.google.com/privacy. [Google Ads data retention setting]
Our host, Cloudflare, records ordinary server logs — IP address, the page requested, a timestamp and your browser's user-agent — to serve the site and to block attacks. Those logs are Cloudflare's, kept briefly, and we do not build profiles from them.
Fonts are loaded from Google
The typefaces come from Google Fonts, so your browser requests them from Google and your IP address reaches Google when the page loads. If you would rather that did not happen, block the request or read the site with fonts disabled; the pages work either way. [decision: self-host the fonts to remove this entirely]
When you buy
Payments run through Stripe. Stripe collects your card details directly — we never see or store a card number. What reaches us is the order record: your name, email address, country, the amount, the VAT treatment and the serial we issue against it.
Stripe also processes your data for its own fraud prevention and legal duties, as its own controller. Its policy is at stripe.com/privacy.
Licences and activation
A licence allows three machines at once. To enforce that, activation records your serial, an identifier for each machine you activate, and the dates. [confirm exactly what the activation service stores and where it is hosted]
Deactivating a slot from inside the plugin releases it. If a machine is lost, we can reset the slot for you.
If you write to support we keep the exchange so we can follow it up and so the next person who asks the same thing gets a better answer.
The newsletter
The signup form on the home page is not connected to anything yet: nothing you type into it is sent or stored. When it does run, we will name the provider here, send roughly monthly, and put an unsubscribe link in every message. [newsletter provider]
Why we are allowed to hold this
- To perform our contract with you: order records, licence and activation data, support about a product you own.
- To meet a legal duty: invoices and tax records.
- Our legitimate interest: keeping the site up, preventing fraud and abuse.
- Your consent: the measurement described above, and the newsletter. You can withdraw either whenever you like.
How long we keep it
Invoices and tax records for [retention years], because the law requires it. Licence and activation data for as long as the licence exists. Support email for [support retention]. Newsletter data until you unsubscribe.
Who else sees it
Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (hosting), our email provider, and nobody else. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, have it deleted, take it elsewhere in a portable format, restrict what we do with it, or object to it. Write to support@kontrastaudio.com and we will answer within one month. If we get it wrong you can complain to [national data protection authority].
Changes
If this policy changes we update the date at the top. Material changes to how we handle existing customers' data will be sent by email.
